At Nicholas and Ernesta’s wedding, I was taking some photos of the ballroom setup when I saw one of the staffs arranging the champagne glasses on the stage; his intense concentration caught my attention. Given the perfect lighting, I knew I won’t have a second chance in capturing the moment. Quickly composed the photo, I squeezed the shutter button. Nothing was posed; no flash was deliberately placed, it was purely journalistic.
It was the only photo I sent to WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association) international competition under the category of ‘Food and Drinks’ in Q4 2011.
Given the competition from all over the world, it’s increasingly hard to win WPJA’s awards these days , but I’m proud to receive an 18th place for this photo – ranked worldwide. Congrats to the other Singapore wedding photographers who have won too.
